Working with a Freelance Writer
I work with brands to establish or maintain their brand voice online, developing and executing full-funnel content strategies that convert users to customers.
Are copywriting and content writing the same thing?
Nope! Copywriting is the short, hard-hitting, gut-punch type writing you typically see on landing pages, social media, and email marketing. It’s goal is to persuade—and quickly. While content writing focuses more on driving long-term engagement and educating users like you see in blog posts and long-form assets.
What is content published to third-party publications?
Contributed content is a type of content strategy where a brand aims to get their leaders or subject matter experts published in magazines or industry journals. The goal is to expand your brand’s reach and establish your brand as a leader in your market.
How do you develop content strategies?
I start by mapping out cyclical trends or key brand activities to get content ideas. From there, I try to get as much out of a single idea as possible. So I may start with a long-form piece of content (like a downloadable guide, webinar, or podcast episode) and see how many other pieces of content I can tease out of it. Are there checklists, quizzes, blog posts or video clips I can repurpose? And repeat as necessary.
How do you monitor content performance?
Using a combination of GA4, Search Console, and SEMrush data, I look at conversion, engagement, and bounce rates to give me an overview of a piece of content’s performance. As each content piece will have different goals, how I monitor performance depends on what the piece was intended to do during the strategy phase.
